The Twins: Day 40

Another long night. Jay was up with Noa. Then I got up to feed Elijah and was up a while. I actually fell asleep pumping. Not pretty!
Today I realized why people have nannies and maids!! Mary cleaned our house. It's nice. Now only if we can keep it that way. I had to pay bills so she held the babies while I got a few paid.
About to go to bed. Rocking Elijah. He was fussy. Jay is with Noa she just keeps screaming:(

The Twins: Day 39

This morning we got off schedule a little. It was a rough night. Noa was fussy all night. So when Elijah was up at 5 ready to eat I just brought him in bed with us and fed him there. Noa was up not long afterwards.
Jay decided to go running. Everything was going well. Then Isaac wanted some ciniminon rolls that I told him I would make for Well I had to feed Elijah a bottle first. Noa started getting upset. Isaac got upset. So I had two babies crying as the other one was chillin on his bottle.
Mary came in town. We ordered chinese and hung out with the kids while jay went bowling with the youth.

The Twins: Day 38

Today was just constant feeding. Isaac was great. It was a great day but just constant. I would feed then burp, the give Elijah a little from the bottle, then change diapers (usually all 3), get babies to sleep, then pump, then entertain Isaac for half an hour before it all started again!!! Crazy but fun on a weird way!!
Noa has been fussy tonight. My mom and I have been trying to get her down. My mom finally got her to sleep then it was time to feed again!!

The Twins: Day 37

Well today I got adventurous. I have been wanting to get down to Murfreesboro to visit with Salena and Josie and give Isaac a day to play with Elias at Sarah's. I had been planning on today because I didn't have any help signed up and it seemed like a good day. Well that was before I was nursing all the time... It turned out to be a great outing it just all took longer than expected!! Everything had to woven around feedings. So this morning I fed the twins and i only had one hour before the next feeding. Not enough to load up three kids and drive to Murfreesboro before the next feeding. So I decided to give them bottles their next feeding so I could get out the door quicker. So it ended up being around 11:30 before I was on the road. And I needed gas and lunch! Of course now close to Isaac and Elias' naptime. Isaac fell asleep on the way down there. We finally got to murfreesboro. I dropped off Isaac then headed to salena's.
Salena and I had a great time. We just fed babies. Well I did two feedings there because it wasn't worth going down for one feeding. So I didn't leave salena's until after 5. I went to get Isaac. He had a great time!!! We finally got home and of course it was time for the babies to eat again. So jay had bottles ready for them. My parents ce over for a little visit. I laid down with Isaac around 8 and was out!!!
It was a busy day but great!!! I love to be able to accomplish big tasks like that!!

The Twins: Day 36

Today was all nursing, all day. That's pretty much all I did all day. It feels great though that I can and they are doing so well. Right now the feedings are taking about 1 1/2 -2 hours. And they are eating every 3 hrs so I have about an hour of downtime.

The Twins: Day 35

Today was a good day. I'm starting to feel like. A real person again!! I took Isaac to school this morning. It was great to know that I could do it!! It was pj day at his school so I didn't have to dress him so that made it a little easier. Of course I had to dress the twins so they looked cute;) I got home and had help waiting from my sister and Amy and Abigail. So I got to work on paying medical bills. Fun!!
Tonight the lactation consultant came. It went really well!! We learned a lot!! The twins nursed. She showed me how to feed them both at the same time for time effincency and how much and how long to feed them for. It was very informative!!!
After she left jay and I got to spend a little time together because all the kids were sleeping. So that was nice!!!

The Twins: Day 34

Well I officially sick of pumping!!  I have been for a while but I'm really ready for the twins to start nursing.  Tomorrow I have a lactation consultant coming to help me with the twins.  I tried tonight to get them to eat a little and they aren't quite getting it.  They do pretty good with the shield so we go that route for a little while.  Jennifer, a friend from church who has twins, came over today and really encouraged me!  She brought her twin boys over who are about 10 months and crawling all over.  Isaac loved playing with them.  She has been breastfeeding them and she gave me some advice.  One encouraging thing she said is that she was pumping mostly until their due date.  And the twins due date was just this past week (the 18th) so that is encouraging that I'm not really "behind."  So much is different with preemies and twins!  I'm hoping to be even more encouraged tomorrow when the lactation consultant comes out.
The twins were really good today!  They slept in their Moses basket most the day.  They just cuddled up.  They are so cute when they are cuddling!!

The Twins: Day 33

Another busy Sunday. We made to church this morning. We didn't quite get to the early service though. But we were early for the 10:30 because Jay was thinking it started at 10.
After church we went over to my sisters for Drew's birthday. It's next weekend but they are going to be out of town so we celebrated it today. We had a great time. Drew is 6 years old. So hard to believe!!
When we left all the kids fell asleep so we thought we would run a few errands and take advantage of that time. By the time we got home it wad time for jay to leave for youth. My parents came over to help me out. It's amazing how much an extra set of hands help!! I was w

The Twins: Day 32

February 20 - One month old!  Hard to believe its been a month.  On one hand though it seems a lot longer!! Today was a great day!  Jay took Isaac to the zoo and I stayed home with the twins.  Its amazing how fast the day goes by and you can get absolutely nothing done!  It is just constant with them.  And the down time I do have I usually find myself just sitting and holding them for an extra min or two that turns into half an hour.  And when you are on a 3-4 hour eating schedule half an hour is a lot of precious time for sleeping babies!!  At lunch time I realized I had to make myself go eat!  I got them both fed and asleep.  Every time I turned around though there was something that needed to be done.  Baby clothes folded, dishes to wash, clothes to wash, toys to pick up... but I had to eat!  So I finally got lunch.  As soon as I finished lunch one was up crying!  Constant!!
My bible study friends from college all came over tonight.  It was great to have them all over!  Good times!  And Salena and Matt even made it over with Josie!!!  Josie and Elijah are the same size.  So cute!!!  I took a picture of the three of them, I'll post it soon!
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
HA!! Just fell asleep for a second with my finger on the o;)  Time to head back to bed!!!

The Twins: Day 31

So of course since Ivey had baby duty they slept great!!!
Ivey headed home today. Whitney came by and took her to the airport. They were both nervous about leaving me with all three kids alone. Well not nervous but they felt bad. I got Isaac down for a nap!! Theft wasn't too bad. Well I was hoping to get a few things done while they all slept. Before long both babies were sceaming. I finally decided to feed them. I finally got them both calmed down. I decided to take some pictures of them. I feel bad that I never tale pictures of them. There just isn't ever time!! So I finally took some. One month pictures I guess;). Not long after that Jay got home.
I decided to go out. I needed to get Drew a birthday present. I finally got out! All alone!!! I drove!!! I felt so free!!! :-)
I bought Jay and I steak and shrimp. It was good!!! Isaac actually ate some steak. He really enjoyed it!!!
Bed Time!!!!!

The Twins: Day 30

So today was the twins actual due date. Feb. 18th. Crazy!! It's been a good day. Not to much going on. Jay didn't get much sleep last night. He was up with Noa. Not sure what her deal is. I think she was hungry. Who knows.
Trot, Whitney and Drew came over tonight for dinner. Drew played us a song on his new guitar that he just learned at guitar lessons. Isaac loved having Drew over!! They ran all over the house!!!
We decided tonight was Ivey's night to stay up with Noa...

The Twins: Day 29

So today we took the twins for their one month check up. They are 4 weeks today. They are growing so big!!! Noa now weighs 6 lbs 7 oz. And Elijah weighs 5 lbs. 8 oz!!!! That is how much Isaac weighed when he was born;) They had a great visit!! They still have thrush so they are getting new medicine for that. She wants me to get treated also so we don't keep passing it back and forth. So I called my doctor about getting treated and while I had the nurse on the phone I thought I would ask her about driving. She gave me go ahead to drive!!!!! She said my scar looked great yesterday and as long as I wasn't on pain medicine I could drive. I feel free!! I haven't driven anywhere yet but at least I know I can now!!
Went to the Ash Wednesday service. Jay and I decided to take turns to the different services. He went to the early one and I went later. It's easier than backing everyone up and taking them out. Even though I can drive I had already made plans with Kim to come get me so I just kept those plans. It was a great service!!

The Twins: Day 28

Today was a busy day!! The twins were suppose to have doctors appointments this morning but I decided to move them to tomorrow because there was snow on the ground and still snowing. I figured it would be safest to stay home. But I still had to go to my doctor this afternoon to have that staple removed. So my dad came and got me and we loaded up the van. That was the first time I did that without Jay. Whew!! Isaac was ready for a nap. We decided to just ran thru and grab lunch. By the time we got it in the car Isaac was asleep. So my dad drove us all and he sat in the van with all the kidos while I went into the doctor. It didn't take long at all. They said my scar looked great!! When I got back to the van everyone was sleeping including my dad;)
My cousin Ivey was flying in so my dad brought us all home and then went back to the airport to get Ivey.
My mom came over and my dad got back with ivey. We had a house full for a little bit. Then jay got home.
Noa was up most the night. I finally got her to sleep on my chest in the living room on the couch. We slept for about 2 hours then it was time to eat again.

Isaac thought they should both have bows in their hair:-)

The Twins: Day 27

At our early morning feeding we realized that there was snow on the ground.  It was covered.  Guess it must have snowed over night.  We got the early feeding finished before Isaac woke up!  That is always exciting!  He actually let us go back to sleep until 8:00 this morning!  That's even more exciting!!!  Jay was off today so it was nice to have a little down time at home.  We were suppose to go to Murfreesboro to see Salena, Matt and Josie but with the snow and waking up late we decided to stay around the house.
I took a shower this morning and noticed that they left a staple in me from my incision from the c-section.  So I have to go tomorrow to have that removed.  The twins have a doctors appt in the morning also but if the roads are bad I might just reschedule it.
I realized tonight when I laid down next to Isaac in our bed (yes, he sleeps in our bed, one day we will work on that...  but today is not that day:)  I realized how much I love my children!! You know this is hard at times but man do I love them!  And I have a great husband who loves them just as much as I do and loves me!  Even when we don't get to spend much time together because we are feeding babies or changing diapers or entertaining a two year old...  we still know how much we love each other!

The Twins: Day 26

Week 2 of making it to church!  We actually made it to the 9AM service this morning.  I was up at 5am feeding the twins.  Everyone baths and dressed and were in the van by 8:35!  After church we decided to go to the Chinese Buffet.  Started out pretty crazy.  Noa woke up fussing and Isaac wasn't in the best mood.  It turned into a 2 hour lunch.  I got Noa calmed down and as we were ready to go Isaac started eating...
Jay had youth tonight.  Thankfully, the Putman's asked if Isaac could come over and play.  I'm not sure what I would have done if he stayed here.  The twins were constant the whole time Jay was gone.  Judy came by to pick up some laundry and helped me hold one of them while I changed the other.  Then Whitney and Drew came by and helped hold babies for a little bit.  They ate dinner with me and had to head out.  Before they left we laid both the babies down in their crib.  As soon as they were out the door Elijah was up crying.  I changed him and then Noa started waking as well.  I got them both in my wrap and carried them around while I was trying to make their bottles.  They were both screaming.  By the time I got both bottles made they were asleep.  I finally got to sit down!  We just sat for a while.  Then I got them both fed right before Jay got home.  Whew, what a night!  I told Jay I was expecting to put them down and get some stuff done around the house!  Yeah right like that happened!!!
BTW...  Happy Valentines Day!  I took a few other pictures of the twins.  Isaac didn't want to have anything to do with pictures so its just the twins.  And Noa was all fussy...  So not the best but it captures our Valentines day!  I'll post them soon!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy valentine's day from Elijah! My brother and sister were fussing so i got to be the camera hog:-)

The Twins: Day 25

I got another good nap in this morning.  Its always nice for others to come play with the babies while I sleep!!  :)  I set my alarm to wake up in an hour.  The next thing I knew it was 3 hours later.  So that was pretty much my mid morning.  Of course I was up at 4:30am.  I was feeding the twins and Isaac woke up and he was ready to start the day!  I let Jay sleep.  He cuddled with Elijah and I fixed Isaac breakfast.
Jay went out with the guys to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch.  When Linda left I thought it should be easy to get Isaac down for a nap and we could all nap until Jay got home.  It didn't work that easily.  Of course.  Both the twins started fussing, Isaac was kicking his door in his room because I finally just locked him in there hoping he would fall asleep.  After a while he just started playing in his room.  Jay finally got home and of course Isaac laid down with him!
I was dying to get out of the house.  So after a late decision we loaded up and went to Best Buy.  It was 7:30 before we left the house.  By the time we got everything ready and then the twins got hungry and Jay decided to feed Isaac, it took us forever to finally get out!  We got a few good looks at Best Buy pushing our huge stroller around the store, but I'm sure that is just the beginning!
It was good to get out.  I realized today that I have been dependent on other people for 3 1/2 months now.  Between bedrest and the c-section I haven't been able to drive at all.  So I have had to rely on others to take me places.  I have to say it is starting to get old!!  I'm ready to drive!!  Just to get out every now and then gives you a little sanity!!

The Twins: Day 24

Another good day!!  It was like a party this morning we had so many people over to help:)  It was great!  Jay woke up and helped me get the twins started eating.  He set up this system where we could feed them in the boppy and set a towel across them and not even have to hold the bottles! (see photo below) So I laid in bed with them next to me eating.  Isaac was awake so we turned a movie on for him.  We got to lay there for a little bit.  Jay had to leave for work and of course it wasn't long before Isaac was up ready to go!  I put both the twins in this wrap I have and fixed breakfast.  They loved it!  They just slept head to head.  It was so cute!  Allison got here a little after 8 and helped me out.  Then Sarah J. came over and they both held the babies. Then Karen and Ryan came over.  Isaac was running circles around Ryan.  He was so excited to see him.  Karen and Sarah watched the babies and Isaac while Allison took me to the store.  It was great!  I got to get out and get some things we needed.  And of course more snacks!!  :)  Everyone left and I put Isaac down for a nap.  Salena called me as I was putting him down and of course the twins woke up too.  Isaac wanted to hold them so I put a twin on each side of him.  It turned out to be great because it pinned him down so he couldn't squirm around.  By the time I was off the phone with Salena Isaac was asleep with a baby on each arm and Noa was crying next to him.  It didn't even phase him.  He was out!!  I'll send a picture of it.  It was so cute!!  Right when he fell asleep Jay got home.  We had a nice dinner.  And shortly after headed to bed.
Well, one week down of Jay back at work.  It wasn't bad at all.  Probably worse on him:(  Hopefully things will get better once we get a good routine down!!

Feeding time:) one system Jay came up with for easy feeding:-)

The Twins: Day 23

Today was a good day.  The morning started off kind of crazy but things got better after getting all 3 kids fed.  Sarah B. came over and helped all day!  I was able to take a shower and a long nap!!!  Isaac and I laid down from 1:00 to 5:00!  Sarah had cleaned and dinner was ready when we woke up!  I told her I needed to hire her as a nanny:)
We went to offer group tonight.  It was good to get out.  I know Jay was exhausted but he knew that I needed to get out.  Everyone was very excited to see the babies!!

The Twins: Day 22

This week is going by so slow!!  Today was a good day.  Isaac finally had school.  He got to take his Valentine's to school.  And pictures of the twins.  He fussed a little leaving and it was hard to get him to go with Christin to school.  He didn't want to leave the twins:(  He cried, but Christin said as soon as he got to the car he was fine.  Which I figured he would be.
Jennie came and helped me today.  Its great to just have an extra set of hands!!  I got a good 2 hour nap in between feedings.  Christin and Piper brought Isaac home after school and they stayed and played a little.  Jay got home soon after that.  We are both like zombies right now...  We just do what we have to every night to get ready for the next day.  We are making it through though!!  I have to say it is hard but its all worth it when you look at those two precious babies!  And that one adorable 2 year old!!  And to see him look at them just steals your heart away!!  He loves them so much!!  I'm so glad for that!

Night, Night!

The Twins: Day 21

This morning was a little rougher than yesterday morning.  Jay got to go in later because of the snow so he was here a little later this morning.  Which you think that would have made things easier.  He got to sleep in a little more.  I was up most the night with Noa.  She was fussing a lot throughout the night.  We are starting to think maybe she has her days and nights confused.  She is fine throughout the day, just sleeps all day long.  Last night she ate at 1am then was up at 2:30 crying.  Nothing soothed her so finally I fed her more.  She ate.  Then ate again at 4am.  So it doesn't seem like she is having stomach problems.
Everything was going good and then Jay left and it went crazy!  Both the babies started crying they were hungry.  I was trying to calm them and get their bottles ready.  Isaac was being good but right at my side wanting to help.  I was in the kitchen trying to get their bottles out of the refrigerator when I almost dropped Elijah.  It was awful.  Luckily I caught him before he went down!  He just reared his back and basically jumped out of my arms.  It scared me to death!!!  I went and put them both down in their Moses basket and just let them cry while I got their bottles ready.  Then Isaac wanted to stand in his rocking chair with the refrigerator door open.  So I had to tell him no and get him down.  He started screaming so I had 3 screaming babies at once.  Finally I got both bottles ready and all set up for the feeding.  Isaac got over his fit and came in to help me feed the babies.  We were all better at that point!  Right at the end of the feeding my dad gets here!  Of course, perfect timing:)
Better go finsh pumping so I can get some more rest.

The Twins: Day 20

Today was Jay's first day back to work.  He was up at 3:30 am with Noa this morning.  He ended up staying up and getting ready for work and going in.  I don't think he could go back to sleep.  Poor Jay!  He came home exhausted from work.  He and Isaac went to bed around 8:00.  I stayed up and just finished the "last" feeding of the night.  They seem to be going a little longer between feedings.  We will see how long they will go tonight!!  We have a system now where we can feed them alone.  It works pretty good.  I'll have to post a picture of our system soon:)
My day was great!  The morning started with Christin and Piper coming over.  Piper played with Isaac.  It was great for him to have a friend over!!  Christin helped me with me morning feeding.  Then Alexis came and helped out tons!!!  Thank you both you helped me out so much!!  Alexis thank you so much for cleaning!!  And letting me take a good long nap!!  Isaac slept from 1pm-5pm (maybe even 5:30).  I finally laid down about 2:30 and slept until 5 or 5:30.  It was great.  Oh yeah, I almost forgot.  My sister and Drew came by too but I was napping so I didn't even see them.  They held Noa.  Jay got home I think around 3:30 and came and napped with Isaac and me.
Its been a great day!  So thankful to have such great friends who are willing to help me out!!  Thank you, Thank you!!

The Twins: Day 19

The twins were introduced to the Youngs' crazy lifestyle today!!  At 7:45 this morning we decided to go to church.  It started out with Jay and Isaac going so Isaac could get out of the house and have something to do.  Then when Jay and Isaac got out of the shower Jay asked Isaac if he wanted to take the babies to church.  I told Jay that we weren't going to make it to the 9am service.  I got ready as Jay got all the kids ready.  By 9:45 we were in the car ready to go to church.  It was great to be back at church!  The twins were the stars of the morning!!  Everyone wanted to see them.  We just had them in their car seats in the stroller as everyone strolled by and took a peek:)  After church, Isaac fell asleep in the van on the way home.  We got home and fed the twins and ourselves and all got a good nap in.  Then it was off to the next event!
We had a Youth Super Bowl party tonight.  We loaded everyone up and headed to the Lane's house.  There we found some great babysitters!!  All the youth loved the babies!  Of course how can you not?!?  ;)
It was a very busy day but a great day to get out of the house and back to reality.  Jay starts back to work tomorrow.  We will see how next week goes!

The Twins: Day 18

We had a rough night last night.  Of course the night Isaac spends the night at his aunt's and we expect to get lots of rest, is the night Noa is up all night!  She wasn't up all night but she was fussy a majority of the night.  We think she had a stomach ache.  I'm sitting in their room now.  She is a little fussy again tonight but hopefully tonight will be a better night!
Isaac came home ready to see his babies!!  He missed them and us last night.  He is so sweet to them!  We had several visitors today.  It was great to see Carrie and Tiffany.  And also see the Crass'!!
I got to get out a little tonight.  My dad drove me to Old Navy so I could look for some pants.  I found two pairs.  I hope they fit ok.
Its been a great day!!

The Twins: Day 17

When your day starts at 5AM, mornings seem to last forever! Isaac has started getting up at the 5AM feeding. And he doesn't go back to sleep like we would like for him to! Jay took him out and they ran some errands. Got another snail for his fish tank. We were able to all get a good nap in this afternoon! His friend Owen came over and they played for a little bit and then he went to spend the night with his Aunt WeWe (Whitney). Jay had a date night planned for us!! My parents came over and watched the twins. We went out to eat at Logan's and went to visit Salena and Matt and their new addition, Josie! She is precious!!! It is so great to see what God can do and how wonderful he is!! We are surrounded by miracle babies!!!

It was great to get out tonight. Even if it was just for a little bit. Jay and I thought about going to a movie but we figured we would both fall asleep during the movie:)

The twins are starting to be awake more and more. They are still good babies though! They are both in bed and we are heading to bed soon! With Isaac at Whitney's house we are hoping to be able to sleep in a little in the morning after the 5AM feeding!!

The Twins: Day 16

We got out to Cracker Barrell this morning. All 5 of us and Granddaddy met us there. Everyone loved looking at the twins! Only the beginning of much attention I'm sure;) everyone would say how cute the twins were then see Isaac and say oh you have your hands full!!! Ha!! Oh do I know it;)
After Cracker Barrell Jay dropped me off at Target. Had to get s few things. Whenever I'm out I feel like I'm in a constant daze. Not sure how much of that is the pain meds and how much is lack of sleep. Probably both combined!
All 5 of us had a great afternoon nap!

The Twins: Day 15

Not much going on today. Last night we got a little more sleep. We fed them at 1 am and then not until 5:30 am. Very nice to get s little rest!!! Of course Isaac got up at 5:30 when we got up to feed the twins. We turned a movie on for him and got a little more sleep. I slept more while jay fed him breakfast;)
I think we are all starting to go a little stir crazy. We aren't use to being in our house this much. We are usually always on the go.

The Twins: Day 14

We took the twins back to the doctor today. They are back over their birth weight!!! Yay!!! Noa weighs 5 lbs 2 oz. And Elijah weighs 4 lbs 6 oz. They are doing great. We can come off the strict feeding schedule and let them tell us when they are hungry. We will probably still stick to a schedule just for our sake!! We are hoping though they will sleep a liitle more at night now!!
The doctor said they have thrust though. So we have medicine to treat that now.

The Twins: Day 13

Today we got out!! We went to the grocery store. We were able to drop Isaac off at the Putman's so it wouldn't be totally crazy with all 5 of us at the store. The twins did great. Jay had one buggy with them and I had one buggy full of junk food. That's about all I got. I've been wanting to snack constantly since I've been breastfeeding so I needed to stock up. And oh did I!!! We were a little late on their feeding and Elijah let us know!!! The whole way to the Putman's! We stopped there and fed them. Isaac had a great time over there!!
We had some vistitors and great food delivered to the house!! Thanks Dawson's and Darlene!!
Went to bed early. Up for 9:00 feeding and heading back to bed!!

All napping!!
